The Smarty Validate README can be found in inc/lib/smarty-plugins/validate Field validation rules and their error messages are defined in the PHP file (not .TPL). The error messages are stored in the template variable $vMsg (array). If a field is found invalid, its error message is stored in the template variable $vErr (array). To simplify validating form fields and processing the error messages, poMMo uses its custom smarty function "fv". The "fv" function accepts the following paramaters; ------------------------------------------------------ validate = (field name) Activates validation on passed field name. Field name should match The name attribute of a form input. prepend = (error message prefix string) Sets the default string to be prepended to form validation error messages. Default: '' (blank) append = (error message postfix string) Sets the default string to be appended to form validation error messages. Default: '' (blank) message = (field name) If field name is found invalid, print the error message assosiated with the invalid field. NOTE; by default the message is wrapped with the prepend & append strings. If you would like to override the prepend + append strings for a particular error message, you can pass the "pre" and "post" parameters. e.g. {fv message="email" pre="
ERROR!
" post="
"} Here is a typical example of using poMMo's {fv} function; REMEMBER; Field validation criteria (e.g. "isEmail", "notEmpty", "isPhone") and error messages (e.g. "not a email", "cannot be empty", "not a phone number") are assigned in the PHP file & are not controlled in the Smarty template files. -------------------------------------------- {* INITIALIZE FIELD VALIDATION *} {* Set default error message prefix & postfix *} {fv prepend='' append=''} {* Activate validation on form fields *} {fv validate="email"} {fv validate="password"} {fv validate="captcha"}

{fv message="email"}

{fv message="password"}

{fv message="captcha" pre="Having Trouble? click here" post=""}
